THE OLD CATHOLIC MISSION IN SUSSEX

& EX ECCLESIA COMMUNITY CHAPLAINCY

EX ECCLESIA

An opportunity for healing and reconciliation...

...for those who wish to reconcile their life with the life of The Church...

For those who feel alienated from The Church perhaps because of lifestyle and or self-identity...

For those who are excommunicated (whether formal or effective) from The Church i.e. are divorced, seperated, unmarried, had an abortion and/or unable to receive absolution or rescript...

For those who are perhaps angry with God...

For those who want to know God or if He really does love them...

For those who are curious to know more about the Catholic Christian faith, life and spirituality...

If you identify with any of the above...
then Ex Ecclesia may just be what you have been looking for!

At Dorset Gardens Methodist Church

just off St James St turn left after the
Abbey National cashmachine

between 7-9pm every Monday
during which time it is possible also to...

... speak to a Priest or a Counsellor in confidence about your particular situation or any spiritual problem...

... receive Absolution and/or the Holy Communion...

... participate or just listen to our Monthly discussion on subjects relating to the purpose of the group...

... enjoy fellowship, conversation and coffee with others in similar situations as yourself seeking to find a way to reconcile their spirituality and understanding of the Faith with the teaching and witness of The Church.

Taizé  Worship

Photo of Taizé service

Our monthly Taizé Service in the small chapel at Dorset Gardens, follows the style of the Taizé Community in France.

It is a very different experience from a ‘normal’ church service:

  • The service has no leader; there is no sermon
  • The central area is cleared for people to sit on the floor if they wish, or on pews at the sides
  • The church is lit by candles
  • Chants and the reading are sometimes in different languages to remind us of the universality of the Gospel
  • The service includes periods for silent prayer and meditation

Our Taizé services are normally held at 7.30pm on the third Monday of each month.
