Welcome to the Sussex Mission of the

Catholic Apostolic Church in Europe
Province of the United Kingdom

St Cuthman's is a faith community of ordinary people diverse in age, background, experience and talents but who are committed to deepening their spirituality in, through and with the love of God expressed in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Our Patron Saint is St Cuthman, a Sussex saint baptised and instructed in the Faith by St Wilfrid, the "Apostle to the Saxons". St Cuthman was a shepherd and a church builder and these attributes seem to reflect nicely our desire to be pastoral and to establish a faith community here in Sussex.

From September 2009, the Old Catholic Church in Europe changed its name

to the Catholic Apostolic Church in Europe.

The OCCE has changed its name to reflect its communion, history

and foundation in 2000AD by the Catholic Apostolic National Church [Inc. USA].

Our Apostolic Succession is descended from the Roman Catholic Church

through Bishop Carlos Duarte Costa of Botucatu, Brazil.

Our Ethos

As a community we do not discriminate against individuals regarding such superficial concerns as race, sexuality, income, age, health or physical impairment. We are simply a faith community seeking to encourage, support and develop individually and together our spirituality and understanding of the Divine, that we may experience both in this life and the next, the Kingdom of God in us.

Our Mission Clergy offer an "open" ministry to any and all, primarily concerned with healing and reconciliation - particularly to those who for whatever reason have felt exclusion or who have excluded themselves from the "mainstream" expressions of Christianity. Our people have come through many and varied routes on their spiritual paths and St Cuthman's exists to help continue and guide people along their journey and pilgrimage of faith...

St Cuthman's is currently in need of the following liturgical items with which to celebrate Mass:

Vestments i.e. Chasuble & Mass Set in Gold/Black
Low Mass Candlesticks (x1 pair)
Altar Cloths, Lavabo Towels, Corporals, Purificators etc

MISSION STATEMENT

By the grace of God and in the power of the Holy Spirit to establish a church in Sussex based on New Testament principles:

To preach the Good News of Jesus Christ to the people of Sussex and in so doing see numeric growth from new birth.
To raise up local faith communities in Sussex where the Love of God in Christ Jesus is lived, celebrated and shared.
To provide pastoral care for the church based on strong and honest relationships, such that the church resembles both a family and a fully functioning body.
To minister to the poor, the sick, the afflicted and the downcast.
To be a catalyst in bringing Christians in Sussex together towards the objective of seeing one church, albeit expressed across different congregations and denominations.
To support in prayer and resources the spread of the Gospel throughout the rest of the world.

Nota Bene

We have a strict policy on child and vulnerable person protection in place in the Mission.
The clergy are never placed in the position of being alone with children or
vulnerable persons under any circumstances.
